Din Tai Fung is a name familiar to many, with roots dating back to Taiwan more than 30 years ago; Din Tai Fung has created impact in Singapore since 2003. Whenever I crave for xiao long baos (steamed pork dumplings), Din Tai Fung comes to my mind instantly.

Lemongrass Juice
A Thai-inspired drink, the Lemongrass Juice is a refreshing palate-cleanser; it is a great beverage to offset the spiciness in the upcoming dishes. All 4 beverages consist of an ice ball made up of pure juice, melting away without diluting the drink, keeping it consistently cold and tasty!
Roselle Juice
The Roselle Juice is packed with ingredients that are known to lower blood pressure, aid digestion and refine complexion –this drink will appeal to the health conscious. This drink is redolent of an herbal floral scent, which I didn’t quite enjoy, but the placebo effects certainly worked on my dining companion, who even ate the edible flower!
Earl Grey Lemon Tea
A nice twist from the regular lemon tea, their rendition is made from earl grey tea, exuding a distinctive flavour and pleasant aroma.
Freshly Blended Fruit Juice
The Freshly Blended Fruit Juice is a healthy blend of carrot, celery and pineapple; it is a revitalising combination that is hydrating and detoxifying. The natural sweetness makes this smoothly blended juice very palatable.

Green Chillies Stuffed with Marinated Minced Meat
To kick-start your meal, I would recommend this appetising Thai-inspired dish, composed of green chilli stuffed with meat. The chilli offers the dish a suitable kick without being too spicy, and the sweetness of the meat shines through though –the tender and juicy meat within is imbued with an exciting fusion of flavours.
Sliced Duck in Crispy Spring Onion Pastry
Wrapped in a spring roll pastry deep-fried to a perfect crispy golden brown, is smoked duck and spring onion. Though not a fan of duck meat, I found this dish to be one of my favourites of the day! The duck is tender and nowhere near chewy. The spring onions lend a light fragrance to this appetiser.
Steamed Chicken Dumplings
Cocooned within delicately pleated skin are juicy minced chicken and flavourful chicken stock. The skin is consistently smooth and thin. Compared to the perennial favourite pork dumpling, this chicken version fails to outshine. Nonetheless, this healthier version is ideal for people who tend to avoid pork.
Steamed Angled Gourd & Shrimp Dumplings
These parcels consists of shrimp, angled gourd and bamboo shoots, adding crunchy textures and health benefits to boot. The whitening benefits of angled gourd and vitamin E-rich bamboo shoot will please the health and beauty conscious.

Steamed Fish Dumplings
Trapped inside each steamed pillow-soft dumpling are fresh premium red snapper fish, tender with no hint of fishy stench. The fish is soaked in chicken broth for hours before mixing with fresh white cabbage, chopped celery and water chestnut before wrapping it. This dumpling is light on the palate with subtle flavours.

Noodle with Spicy Sesame Sauce

Nonya Curry Fish Head in Clay Pot (S$26++)
Szechuan Wok-fried Diced Chicken with Sun-dried Chillies & Toasted Cashews (S$14.80++)
Beef Sirloin with Aromatic Black Pepper Sauce on Sizzling Hot Plate (S$19.80++)
Homemade Beancurd & Sea Prawns on Sizzling Hot Plate (S$16.80++)

Crispy Prawns in Creamy Dressing with Plump Lychees & Juicy Peaches (S$14.80++)
One of my favourites would be the Crispy Prawns in Creamy Dressing with Plump Lychees & Juicy Peaches. The crispy prawns boast a crispy batter coated with a delicious creamy dressing. They are highly addictive!
Hong Kong Classic Steamed Cod Fillet with Superior Soy Sauce (S$21.80++)
The cod fillet disappointed; isn’t as tender as I’d hoped, considering the thick cut of fillet. It is slightly overdone and it lacks a wow factor.
Cantonese Sweet & Sour Pork (S$14.80++)
The Cantonese Sweet & Sour Pork is another dish I enjoyed. The pork isn’t tough or chewy, and the delicious sauce that coats every morsel beautifully makes an irresistible dish.
Crispy Chicken Wings Marinated in Shrimp Paste
The Crispy Chicken Wings Marinated in Shrimp Paste is a crowd-pleaser. Table ethics aside, it is time to pick these up with your fingers and eat them down to the bones –it is finger-licking good. The meat is tender and juicy with a crispy exterior.
Almond Pudding Coated with Black Sesame DressingThe pudding has a smooth creamy consistency, minus the excessive use of gelatine to set the dessert. I enjoyed the luscious layer of black sesame dressing that has many health benefits as well.
Mango Pudding
The mango pudding is not gelatinous as well; it is smooth and creamy with mango bits within. Topped with generous slices of mango, and a layer of condensed milk, this dessert is a fabulous closure to the meal.
Service is top-notch; warm friendly smiles that greet you as you enter will suggest the good hands you’ll be in for the rest of the meal. Wait staff are attentive, with glasses diligently re-filled. I have never experienced lousy service from the many times I’ve patronised Din Tai Fung; I will certainly continue to patronise them!
